Osteogenesis Imperfecta - A brittle bone disease affecting the skeleton
and connective tissues causing permanent deformaties and disabilities.

Wayne Washington is a fifty-two year young motivational speaker with
Osteogenesis Imperfecta Here is Wayne's background:

     * Born in Brooklyn, New York on March 23, 1954.
     * Diagnosed at birth with Osteogenesis Imperfecta.
     * Raised at a convalescent home run by nuns until the age of 16.
     * Had 37 fractures during childhood and 21 surgeries.
     * Lived in three foster homes and one group home.
     * Graduated from the Human Resources School in Albertson, New York in 1975
     * Told never to lift weights by medical doctors.

Wayne's Accomplishments

     * Learned to read and write at the age of 16.
     * Had a brief encounter with alcohol.
     * Honored by the NAACP.
     * Became a nationally ranked weightlifter competing in multiple USA events.
            * 1992 - Barcelona Paralympic Games in Barcelona, Spain
            * 1993 - Qualified for the World Championship Wheelchair Games in London, England
            * Gold Medal Winner
     * Wayne has lifted 295 lbs. in a weightlifting competition weighing only 112 lbs.
